Northern Lights Library System (NLLS) is seeking Statements of Qualifications from interested consultants to provide professional services for an organizational review.
Established in 1990, NLLS is a co-operative library system that provides services to public libraries within its boundaries. NLLS has a complement of 22 staff members including the Service Point Librarian.
NLLS is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the members (54 municipalities) and an Executive Committee of 10 elected by the Trustees to oversee the governance of the organization.
To provide the members with a broad spectrum of services, NLLS is in partnership with three other regional libraries to form The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC). This partnership expands and enhances library collections, providing access to over 3.3 million items.
NLLS is also a member of The Alberta Library (TAL), a multitype library consortia. TAL administers the current provincial library catalogue, providing access to the resources of academic, special and public libraries. TAL also coordinates the TAL Card program which permits resource sharing of physical items between public library customers and academic print collections.
In 2018, a needs assessment with member input was completed and the 2018-2020 Plan of Service was adopted. NLLS is looking for a full organization review to move forward in creating a strong and sustainable work environment.
NLLS needs to be able to respond to the changing needs of the member libraries and to demonstrate exceptional organizational structure and outcomes. An organizational review should highlight areas of strength and those which need to be addressed. Other focus areas should include a review of human resources policies/practices, compensation, and financial management and practices.
Interested parties are asked to submit responses via post or email by Oct 13, 2020 to:
Terri Hampson, Interim Acting Director
Northern Lights Library System Postal Bag 8
Elk Point, AB
As part of the response, please provide references for one current or similar project along with a timeline projection including a completion date.
NLLS reserves the right to reject all submissions at its sole discretion, accept a proposal based on considerations other than cost, and waive or modify any provisions of this request for qualifications.
