Network Analyst
Northern Lights Library System (NLLS) invites applications from enthusiastic and qualified candidates for the position of Network Analyst.
NLLS, located in Elk Point, Alberta, serves 43 member libraries in northeastern Alberta and is one of 4 members of the Regional Library Automation Consortium (TRAC). Situated in an attractive rural setting, Elk Point is 2 hours from Edmonton, and within 45 minutes of several larger communities.
Reporting to the Information Technology Consultant, the Network Analyst provides technology support for NLLS Headquarters and member libraries. Primary responsibilities are in the areas of network administration, troubleshooting computer hardware and software maintenance and support.
Areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Maintaining NLLS headquarters’ local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) in order to ensure effective office operations.
2. Providing technical support for 43 member library’s Local Area Networks and NLLS region wide area network.
3. Assisting the Information Technologies Consultant with various tasks.
4. Participating in cross training so that other duties as required can be performed to ensure the efficient operation of NLLS.
5. Knowledge and skills
• Diploma or certification in computer technology or equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of Windows server 2008, active directory and backup
• Proficiency in troubleshooting Microsoft XP , Window 7, MS Office applications, internet applications, network connectivity issues
• A valid driver’s license is required
• A minimum of one year experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication ability
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently or as a member of project teams
• Strong focus on customer service
• Ability to work within time constraints and deadlines
• Experience with routers (Fortinet) and firewalls is an asset
• Knowledge of Group Policies an asset
• Working knowledge of remote and helpdesk software an asset
• SQL would be considered an asset but not a requirement.
This position offers a comprehensive benefit package and a regular work week consisting of 35 hours. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
